The purpose for our Spring 2012 Tour is three-fold:
1. To encourage home schoolers in the area of music. Some home school groups have instrumental and vocal programs in place, some dream about this, and some groups have never thought about these types of programs. Our group began 19 years ago from a desire of 4 families. They pursued a man in their church, asking him to consider conducting a little band and he said, ”YES!” HSMA began with a small group of students on a variety of instruments. It was a “bandestra.” It now consists of 12 groups in three area: Band, Orchestra, and Choir. Our desire is to help and encourage other home schooling families in the area of music and see how it may be possible to begin their own program in their area!
2. To educate our home school musicians. We have toured colleges, museums, Shepherds Ministries in Wisconsin, and rescue missions. This year we will tour the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, NY.
3. To engage in fun! This year ~ Niagara Falls!
We are hoping to meet many home schooling families at these locations! If you have friends or family from any of the above areas, even if not home schooled, let them know about our itinerary! Would love to have them attend a concert! Thank you for helping to “spread the word!”
Contact Marilyn Frazee at marilyn.frazee55@gmail.com if you plan on coming! She’d love to hear from you!
I hope you have fun Kayla! You're bringing a camera, right? Missed you Sunday. It was the young people against the 'old' people, 'old' being those who are seventeen and older. Soccer score 1-1, so both teams did well. We had three rounds instead of our usual two, so we were more exhausted than normal when we were done. But we probably didn't look like it as I'm sure we usually look as though we'd played ten rounds. ;)
ReplyDeleteHave you talked with your parents about the possible sleepover? We Discussed it with the Ayottes and they seem very interested, but are busy at the end of June...so maybe sometime in July? Hopefully we can plan it before the Fair.
Sounds like soccer was fun---if not quite strenuous. I spent the day in a much more relaxed way...sleeping. ;) Everyone was too sick for us to go anywhere. I slept most of last Sunday too; Running all week on only a few hours of rest was really difficult. Still, I had a blast on tour.
DeleteI did talk to my parents, and they said okay. I'm not doing 4-H this year, so we don't have to worry about fair in our planning. I can think of only a few weekend events this summer that I actually have calling me; otherwise, I'm pretty open.
Okay, so it looks as if we might try the last Wednesday of this month(the 27th) for the get-together. That is if it works out with you. Some of the Ayottes have been coming to the Wednesday night studies, and so since they'd probably be coming anyway, we figure, we can all go straight to our house afterwards. And if you'd want, some of us Lamberts could pick you up on the way to, or from Church.
DeleteLet me know how the that works, I'll need to check again with the Ayottes to see if they're able to make it work with Mallory's schedule. So it might not be the 27th anyway...we'll see.
That day will work for me :) Can't wait!
DeleteI might bike over to Church on Wednesday, if I get the chance.
If you need a ride there or back, or both ways, we can give it to you. That's a long bike ride!
DeleteHmm. Couldn't do it yesterday because Mom came down with the flu. But I'll try next week...And don't worry; I will relish the exercise (on the way there. Not on the way back). I've done it once before with a friend.
